By  0 Comments

Erika Hermosillo received the ATHENA Young Professional Award at the 2023 Stockton Chamber of Commerce ATHENA luncheon this past November. She is an educator, activist, parent and wife—born and raised in the Central Valley. She earned a BA in psychology at Pacific and MEd in elementary education and teaching at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. After graduating, she completed two service terms as an AmeriCorps member, serving as a teacher through Teach for America.

From a young age, Erika understood that the health of a person is inextricably linked with community. This is why she is a steering committee member for Alternatives to Violence Prevention, or AVP, and conducts AVP workshops at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California.

Erika is currently the chief program officer for two programs at Reinvent Stockton Foundation, Stockton Service Corps and Stockton Scholars. She received the Outstanding Service Program Staff Member Award for America’s Service Commission’s Innovation and Leadership Awards for her work in establishing an emergency fund for service fellows in Stockton Service Corps.
