I Love My Community: Jennifer Deg

By  0 Comments

Jen Deg, owner of A Hitchin’ Good Time, recently sat down with HERLIFE Magazine to discuss her family, involvement in the community and dreams for the future.

HLM: How long have you lived here? What do you love most?
JD: I moved to Lodi 17 years ago and have loved it ever since. It has brought many memories with a sense of belonging along with relationships who are now like family. With this tight-knit community, the support has been wonderful to have when starting A Hitchin’ Good Time.

HLM: How is your heart inspired to serve the community?
JD: Prior to A Hitchin’ Good Time, I found myself serving the community through daycare and supporting families. With this, my home was always open to family and friends when needed and I now have a heart to serve this support through my new business.

HLM: What sparks joy for you?
JD: First and foremost, my family and friends bring me so much joy! They always know how to put a smile on my face and make the bad days good ones. I also love to train in the gym, attend any live music event and spend time with my animals!

HLM: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
JD: Raising my two beautiful daughters and seeing the life they are now building. Also, taking a risk and opening this new business!

HLM: What’s your free time passion?
JD: Traveling, walking my dog Sam, or pushing myself out of my comfort zones during my training sessions at the gym!

HLM: Top three bucket list goals?
JD: To go sailing with my family more; to be the healthiest I can be and to treat my body well because it does for me; to take on more challenges.

HLM: Can you describe a key event that had an impact on your life?
JD: In Las Vegas on 10/01/17, I was changed forever.

HLM: Do you have a favorite quote?
JD: “Take it all in…it’s as big as it seems. Count all your blessings. Remember your dreams.” ~ Jimmy Buffett

HLM: What are you currently reading?
JD: Who am I kidding, there is a shelf of half read self-improvement books sitting at home. However, I still enjoy journaling; does that count?

HLM: Favorite food or dessert?
JD: Hands down, pasta and chocolate.
