Boxwood Finch: Stylish, Social and Holiday Ready!

By  0 Comments

As cool mornings beckon and tree leaves begin to burnish, Boxwood Finch is gearing up for another busy holiday season. The beloved Lodi boutique specializes in unique gifts, chic home decor and what is probably the warmest welcome in town, thanks to owner Amanda Denton and her talented team.

“I feel so lucky!” Amanda exclaimed, “to work with our employees and customers; I just love them. I just love people–that’s really my part–the people part of the business,” she said with palpable enthusiasm about Boxwood Finch, which, like her, could not be more delightful.

Make Your Home Special
“We opened the store to create a place people could go to buy gifts we would want to buy for our own friends.” Think candles, furnishings, vases, baskets, servingware and the cutest baby clothes you’ve seen in your life. In the process, Boxwood Finch has become much more, expanding their services to include custom interior design, special events and ongoing charitable support. “It’s a community really,” Amanda said. “I’ve met so many wonderful people and they’ve become genuine friends.”

Amanda owns Boxwood Finch with her mother, Pam Snell, who is just as enthusiastic and fully immersed in the business but prefers to remain mostly behind the scenes. “Mom is the beautiful, talented brains behind the operation,” Amanda explained. “She’s as busy as ever in customers’ homes, up on a ladder, painting murals, special effects, and doing design work as she has done for over 30 years.” Pam’s custom-painted furniture pieces are also featured in the store among the many stylish options in the merchandise array.

Party Time!
September is Boxwood Finch’s birthday month and marks the store’s sixth year in business. As in years past, they will celebrate with a big anniversary party on September 16 and 17 and will feature their generously discounted sidewalk sale. This year’s proceeds will go to Hospice of San Joaquin. “We always want to help,” Amanda affirmed. Previous proceeds have been donated to recipients such as Lodi House, a non-profit organization that helps and houses women and children in need. To help celebrate the occasion, Modesto jewelry maker Dorene Willet of Hadar & Adara will host a special pop-up at the event, and Sweet Sisters Bake Co. will provide delicious refreshments.

Popping Up Everywhere
“That’s my absolute favorite thing,” Amanda added, “to work with local people to do pop-ups in-store. I’m so happy to get that going again after the pandemic lockdowns.” On October 29, Boxwood Finch will host another pop-up featuring Bee Love Cookie Company, whose treats always sell out quickly and are adored by grownups and kids alike.

Speaking of kids, Amanda says the store has been a perfect way to divide her time between business and home, where she can be with her two favorite little people, son, William, and daughter, Charlotte. “The store has worked extremely well in allowing me flexibility to spend time with my children. I feel very lucky.”

Whether you’re looking for gifts, inspiration or fresh ideas for making the most of the season, leave your cares at the door and let Boxwood Finch welcome you.
