Kelly Osborn Celebrates Fig and Fern Home’s First Anniversary on April 4, 2025
Kelly Osborn still remembers watching her grandfather help customers in his Galt grocery store, the first in the area. “I grew up going there and always noticed how he treated people so well and I really admired that,” recalled Kelly, now the owner of her own store, Fig and Fern Home, on Lower Sacramento Road in Woodbridge.
This isn’t Kelly’s first foray in retail, however. She opened Willow Tree Children’s Boutique in downtown Lodi and despite selling it years ago, she says it still warms her heart to see the business thriving after 23 years. Now, with Fig and Fern Home’s focus on decor, gifts, jewelry, and yes, a section for baby gifts, Kelly has truly found her niche.
Technically still in its infancy, Fig and Fern Home opened less than a year ago. But from the steady stream of loyal customers and the perfectly curated inventory, one would think the store had always been there. Kelly still feels astounded that it was only last March when she happened upon the perfect location and her dream suddenly became a reality. “I received the keys March 1st,” she said. “My boyfriend and family all helped to renovate the interior, and we opened April 4th. With Fig and Fern’s complimentary gift wrap, unique specialty items and flair for fresh, exciting inventory, many customers say that they make a point of popping in weekly to keep up with what’s new.
Fueled by Kelly’s love of entertaining, Fig and Fern Home regularly hosts groups, coordinates with wineries for sip-‘n’-shop events and even offers candle making classes. Customers can choose from an array of fragrances or even mix their own before adding them to the candles they’re making. The 24-person classes, which fill up quickly, are offered twice per season including Mother’s Day, Easter, Valentine’s Day, fall and Christmas.
In addition to operating Fig and Fern Home, Kelly is a real estate agent with Remax Grupe Gold and has done many interior design projects with local builders and customers. It’s all in a day’s work as she routinely helps people figure out how to decorate and accessorize areas of their homes. “My favorite thing about this store is the customers,” Kelly beamed. “I love their friendship, support and how excited they get about the upcoming seasons and inventory. It’s just been so fun for me!”
She is also extremely grateful for the help provided by her family and boyfriend, many of whom stop by daily to lend a hand. Her daughter, Madison, handles all social media for Fig and Fern Home, and her mother, aunt, sister and niece assist with unboxing, tagging, arranging displays and more. “We are a close-knit family and enjoy each other so much,” Kelly shared. “In fact, my sister knows this store so well that she could go to market all by herself and come back with exactly the inventory I’d have selected if I went. She accompanies me to all of the markets, from Las Vegas to Atlanta and Dallas.”
“I absolutely love being here,” Kelly said. “I can’t imagine not doing this and I only wish I’d started sooner!” she exclaimed. “People kept telling me, ‘You should open a store.’” Turns out they were right. She added with a smile, “Now if I am away for even one day, I miss being here so much!”
