Dr. Simran Sethi: Finding Joy and Meaning Helping Others with Their Aesthetic Needs

By  0 Comments

Dr. Simran Sethi is the founder of RenewMD Medical Spas located in Folsom, Fremont and Stockton, California. An internal medicine board certified physician specializing in medical aesthetics, especially for skin of color, Dr. Sethi is on a mission to educate the public about the most current science-based options that will help people achieve their health, skincare and aesthetic goals.

Dr. Sethi, whose parents are both physicians, was always interested in medicine. “As an internal medicine doctor, I treated acutely ill patients in the hospital but consistently found myself wanting to do more for them,” she shared. “After finding help with my own skin and acne concerns, I discovered a love for that clinical setting and opened my first spa in Fremont. My clientele included many women of color who were not treatable with the original lasers, so I acquired the technologies for skin of color so that I could treat them. Hyperpigmentation, scarring, acne, skin laxity and unwanted hair are all treatable if you just have the correct laser.”

Many Modalities
“A lot of people don’t realize that what we offer is actual, holistic, evidence-based wellness such as regenerative medicine and the guidance needed so that our clients aren’t guessing which treatments will be most effective for them,” Dr. Sethi elaborated. “We can provide stem cells, IV therapies/NAD, peptides and exosomes; nobody else offers these specifically in the area. All our services are medical or aesthetic treatments, but none are surgical,” she clarified.

In addition to providing rejuvenation and aesthetic improvements at her RenewMD spas, Dr. Sethi is a featured expert on the Bay Area news channel KRON-4 and a trusted opinion leader recognized by Cynosure Lutronic laser. Her YouTube channel The Skin Report and podcast of the same name are key tools in her ongoing effort to educate the public.

Personalized Skincare
At the Stockton office, her expert consultant, Stephanie Kirschenman, helps patients navigate the wide range of treatment options that include a full array of Botox® and other injectables, such as fillers that are administered by nurse practitioners while estheticians provide a variety of facials tailored to specific concerns. If a patient is a good candidate for injectable weight loss products such as tirzepatide, Dr. Sethi can prescribe it as well as address any loose skin that may result after weight loss. Having this broader range of ways to care for her patients is exactly what she had longed for when she was limited to treating only the acute needs of hospital patients.

While there is no one-size-fits-all treatment, Dr. Sethi is thrilled with the very dramatic results she sees in her post-menopausal patients who receive Potenza™ RF micro needling treatments. “Because their collagen levels have dropped dramatically, the treatment gives their skin the ability to repair itself at the rate of a 20-year-old; that is to say, within eight to ten days instead of eight to twelve weeks. It’s the exosomes that give skin the repair speed of a teenager,” she explained. An important part of maximizing her patients’ results is to ensure they are practicing excellent daily skincare at home. Dr. Sethi noted, “Based on the clinical needs of our actual patients, I developed a skincare line for them called Skin by Dr. Simran Sethi that launched just last year to the public and has been very well received.”

Creating Confidence
One patient stands out in Dr. Sethi’s mind as a perfect example of how fulfilling her work is. A woman had come to her for help after a terrible car accident caused multiple facial fractures and left her feeling insecure about her appearance. “We did some Sculptra® fillers and skin treatments and within a very short time she looked so much better that when she visited her previous workplace, every person there told her she looked 20 years younger. Her confidence soared! Helping people feel better in ways like this is what we most enjoy about our work,” Dr. Sethi said, smiling.

Always on the cutting edge of scientific advancement, Dr. Sethi finds her work both fascinating and deeply fulfilling. “In the last ten years the aesthetic field has really shifted its focus to skin, which is much better than traditional medicine’s facelifts,” she said. “With all the resources at our disposal, the confidence and happiness we can give someone is perhaps the biggest part of what we enjoy most about helping people. I love building lasting relationships with my patients and across generations. It’s a happy field.”
