I Love My Community: Lisa Marie Corren
Lisa Marie Corren, Realtor with ReMax Grupe for 13 years, recently talked with HERLIFE Magazine about her dedication to family and community.
HLM: How long have you lived here, and what do you love most about it?
LMC: I have lived in Stockton my entire life. I love the diversity and the kindness of the community.
HLM: You are involved with the St. Joseph’s Hospital Walk for Wellness event. Tell us about this.
LMC: I joined the St. Joseph’s Fun Run Foundation Committee in 2015. We help raise money for projects such as the cardiac hybrid suite, emergency room expansion and linear accelerator. This year we are raising money for the purchase of two advanced technology machines called Mammotome Biopsy and the Phillips Healthcare EPIQ Elite. This type of technology will help breast cancer patients.
HLM: What inspires you to be involved in the Fun Run?
LMC: I am inspired by all doctors, nurses and staff at the St Joseph’s Cancer Center who help patients who are facing all types of cancer. My heart hurts for those who are facing this horrible disease. I am committed to raising money and awareness to provide the best possible advanced technology for our community. It is an honor to give back to my community and to fight for those who can’t fight.
HLM: Where else do you enjoy giving back to your community?
LMC: In addition to St. Joseph’s Fun Run Foundation, I volunteer for Walk to End Alzheimer’s, March of Dimes, Junior League’s Special Needs for Children Fiesta Festivale, and I’m a Eucharistic Minister for Annunciation Church.
HLM: What sparks joy in your life?
LMC: I love spending time with my children Ernesto, Steven and Brittney. I have seven grandkids, Kiley, Mia, Juliet, Gavin, Xander, Warren and Selene. I also enjoy time with my husband and friends.
HLM: Outside of work, where is your time best spent?
LMC: With my partner in good crime and good friend Annette Stephens, I fundraise for Team Xap! I also enjoy doing yardwork and running on my Peloton.
HLM: What are your top three bucket list items?
LMC: Run the New York or Boston Marathon; attend Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica; and see all my grandkids become successful members in their communities.
HLM: Where was your favorite travel destination?
LMC: Disneyland and Martha’s Vineyard.
HLM: What accomplishments are you most proud of?
LMC: My children, my grandchildren and running in two marathons.
HLM: What is a key event in your life that has had a huge impact on you?
LMC: Not having parents in my life.
HLM: What is your favorite quote?
LMC: I have two favorites: “You are never too rich or too poor to give back to your community,” generally attributed to Benjamin Franklin, and e e cummings, “I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart).”
HLM: What are you reading now:
LMC: Honey, Baby, Mine by Laura Dern and Diane Ladd, and The Many Lives of Mama Love, by Laura Love Hardin.
HLM: What is your favorite food/dessert?
LMC: Salmon and all kinds of sweets!
