Just Sayin’

Then, with remarriages for both, that meant moving (five or six more times). At 18, I moved to Florida where I lived in three different places. My husband and I made our way to Kansas City—add two more addresses to the list.

We built the home we live in now and have been settled in it for the past nine years. It feels good to have one residence. One home base. As a child of divorced parents, I never had that stability. I lived with my mom on Mondays and Tuesdays, my dad on Wednesdays and Thursdays and I alternated weekends. I used to carry a little suitcase to school as I shuffled back and forth. I feel sadness for younger me. I longed for one place to call home. I feel gratitude that I have that now and I’m able to provide it to my own children.

A few things I’ve learned along the way:
It doesn’t matter if it’s an apartment or a big ol’ house; regardless of budget, any living space can be cute and cozy. There are so many creative and inexpensive ways to decorate.
Home is where the love is.
Home is where your people are.
