Aryana Wellness Center: Sandra Stultz, LMFT

By  0 Comments

Ever since she was a young child, Sandra Stultz had a heart for helping the people around her. She was born and raised in Oakland, California, and spent much of her 30-year career servicing the Bay Area and meeting the needs of those most neglected and overlooked. Her gentle voice, kind gaze and expert care are evidence of a career that has touched the lives of thousands and continues to nurture the communities around her.

Sandra’s mental health practice, the Aryana Wellness Center, became incorporated in May 2025, and has locations in her hometown of Oakland and Stockton. The name “Aryana” means “pure, truthful or noble,” and has its etymological roots in several different cultures, a nod to the multicultural reach of the practice. Its logo is a butterfly haloed by a sunrise, a poignant symbol of transformation and new beginnings. As their page says, it is a “holistic mental health practice dedicated to supporting individuals, couples and families through compassionate, culturally responsive care.”

Sandra began her career in the mental health field in 1992 in the nonprofit sector, which sparked her love for community outreach. She received her LMFT in 2006 and began her private practice in 2010. She also worked for San Francisco’s Comprehensive Crisis Services, which responded to any psychiatric emergency in the city. For ten years, she helped supervise that program, interacting and supporting those who needed it the most. During this time, she also worked with an outpatient based therapy group that specialized in serving BIPOC communities with BIPOC clinicians. This group focused on helping their clinicians get their licenses in a safe and supportive environment, and also giving their clients providers who both look like they do and provide culturally sensitive care. As well, she specifically applied to render services to communities on Medi-Cal. Those on government health plans often have very limited access to mental health support, despite often being those that need it the most.
After moving to the Central Valley, Sandra created the Aryana Wellness Center on the strong foundation of her three decades of experience in private practice and community care. The center provides holistic mental health care, including for those who are on government healthcare plans in San Joaquin and Alameda counties, and they are working on expanding their offerings. They offer bilingual services and research-based trauma therapies such as EMDR, or eye movement desensitization reprocessing therapy. They work collaboratively with their clients, helping them “be efficient in all the areas of their life” and incorporate all parts of their selves. Sandra has a passion to provide holistic care for all communities, especially those who have limited resources, and she focuses on incorporating the “whole person: mind, body and spirit” while also addressing material needs and inequalities wherever they can.

One of the practical ways Aryana Wellness Center provides concrete support is through their Stockton Community Health Fairs, which began in May 2024. Vendors filled the venue corridors to help educate attendees on different aspects of both mental health and physical health. Sandra emphasizes that “mental health is not just about mental health; it’s also physical health–it’s care of the whole person…We need to encourage people to be informed about how to take care of their bodies.” The Stockton Community Health Fair reflected that; public services and entrepreneurs worked to empower the fair’s attendees through education on everything from blood pressure screening to homeownership. It was such a success that they did it again in May 2025 and attendance almost doubled. Now, it’s become a keystone event every third Saturday of May, to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month.

The Aryana Wellness Center stands as a testament to Sandra’s dedication to bringing quality care to every community she can. As she “focuses on building the next generation of clinicians,” she also continues to spread her legacy of empathy, seeing in each person the unique individual they are and nurturing the seed of potential they hold within.
