Monumental Moments

By  0 Comments

This photo was taken December 1. Week 13. Raider week. The energy in KC was electric. We won 40 – 9. This was my IG post that morning outside Arrowhead Stadium while I was covering pregame for KCTV5.

I was glowing. Our city was glowing. And the parts that meant the most to me had nothing to do with football. We were all family in those exciting days leading up to becoming Super Bowl Champions. Kansas City was united with pride and joy.

Then in the blink of an eye our world changed nearly immediately after.

The words quarantine and COVID overtook our daily lives.

Our circles closed to just those inside our homes.

In those initial days we were not sure what we could and couldn’t do safely. In all honesty, some days may still feel like that today.

Without hesitation, Kansas City started to support local.

Many of us felt like we couldn’t do much, but we could support small, local KC businesses that we love. From a $5 carry-out coffee to neighborhood picnic carry-out dinners to support local restaurants. Those same Super Bowl feelings of unity connected our city again. As we head into fall with many unknowns, the local support is still important.

Here’s a shout out to some of my favorite locals in KC that have helped me through quarantine days.

• Kansas City Mom Collective. I follow them on IG. A group of KC moms who share their experiences and encourage our community of moms trying to raise children together during these crazy times.

• Love Letters KC. These powerful women have taken KC Pride in clothing to the next level, all while giving back to our great city as well.

• Aaron Fit KCMO. These at-home workout plans saved my sanity. Simple plans with endless one-on-one support to keep on track.

• Inspired Style Boutique. My sister’s boutique in Lee’s Summit. The only thing better than her cute clothes are the positivity and inspiration she gives to her clients.

I have lived in Kansas City nearly all my life. My heart truly feels complete with my family in this great city. We are all family, my friends! Be well, my friends.
