Payton and Brennon Covington

Tied the Knot: September 26, 2020

Payton Covington, 23, born and raised in Shawnee, Kansas, graduated with her BSN, RN, in May 2020. She is a mother-baby post-partum nurse and loves to care for moms and their sweet babes. She and her husband, Brennon, live in Shawnee. 

Brennon Covington, 23, was also born and raised in Shawnee. He graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a business management degree after playing four years of college baseball. After graduation, Brennon realized there was no better time to pursue his dream than the present and has now graduated as a firefighter/EMT. 

Payton and Brennon met in high school at the age of 15. As high school sweethearts, they have shared sadness together, losing Brennon’s mom, Lisa, to breast cancer in 2014 and Payton’s dad, Kurt, to colon cancer in 2017. Through it all, they have remained closer than ever.

Brennon proposed on Payton’s mom’s 50th birthday trip in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He hired a photographer and Payton’s mom, Suzanne, convinced Payton she wanted family pictures taken while they were at the beach. Ultimately, Payton learned it was all Brennon’s idea and he proposed after family pictures. 

The blissful couple tied the knot on September 26, 2020. Payton’s brother, Jackson, walked Payton down the aisle. Her Maid of Honor was her younger sister, Hayden Barbour; Serving as bridesmaids were family members and friends Shelby Keyes, Roses Lam, Kirstan Woodward, Kylie Barbour and Kaili Staudenmyer. Serving as Best Man was Blake Covington, the groom’s brother; groomsmen were friends and teammates Mason Knopp, Cooper Minnick, Tanner Allen, Parker Umscheid and Kota Gottfried. ■
