Sarah and Taylor Vinnage

Tied the Knot: September 21, 2019

Sarah Vinnage, 27, of Overland Park, Kansas, earned a degree in nutrition and fitness at Mizzou, then temporarily traded her Tigers for a Jayhawk to get her master’s degree in occupational therapy from KU Medical Center. She works in a rehab facility in Kansas City helping adults recover from traumatic medical events and return home independently.

Taylor Vinnage, 27, born and raised in Overland Park, played college soccer for Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. He is an account manager for a large accounting and finance staffing agency in Kansas City.

“Taylor and I grew up just a few miles away from each other in Overland Park, but never crossed paths until our college freshman 2010 winter break,” Sarah recalls. “We were invited to the same New Year’s Eve party that year and became friends. Things didn’t pick up romantically until we returned home from our respective colleges for summer break and became infatuated with one another.”

Taylor timed his proposal perfectly. “We were on a brewery crawl with our friends and decided to stop at the WWI Memorial for a quick walk break,” Sarah reports. “Taylor got down on one knee on the lawn of the Memorial with my favorite KC landmark, the Western Auto sign, in the background.”

The blissful couple tied the knot September 21, 2019. Sarah’s attendants included her sister as Maid of Honor, Taylor’s sister, and four friends. Taylor’s brother was his Best Man, and groomsmen were friends and college soccer teammates.

Sarah and Taylor chose Weston, Missouri, for a destination wedding that was still close to home; they love how quaint and home-like it feels to them. Their wedding was planned to honor the things the couple loves, as well as their lifelong commitment to each other. Sarah and Taylor’s moms dedicatedly collected 175 vintage champagne glasses from family, thrift stores and online marketplaces before the wedding. The glasses were used to toast the couple with stemware that has been used in celebrations by families all over the country. Sarah’s wedding band was her grandmother’s wedding ring, engraved with her grandparents’ names and wedding date. “We had a meat carving station and whiskey drinks for Taylor, four of my favorite pies for dessert, and open barn windows to enjoy the fall night during their favorite season,” Sarah smiles.

The couple honeymooned in Barcelona and Mallorca, Spain, exploring the city, attending a professional soccer game in Barcelona and spending a week off the coast relaxing with great wine.
