“I prefer vibration-assisted devices such as Tickle Lipo because there’s no heat component, as there is with laser or ultrasound, so there is no risk of skin burn or injury. In addition, it employs energy and suction at the same time, which is faster and results in less trauma. Most can resume reasonable activities the next day. With old-fashioned methods performed under general anesthesia, you could be out for days to weeks at a time,” noted Dr. Schwartz. “Tickle Lipo is also more comfortable than other minimally invasive liposuction procedures; patients often describe the sensation as being ‘ticklish.’”

While Tickle Lipo is his preferred liposuction method, Dr. Schwartz is one of the only doctors in the area to offer three types of in-office liposuction procedures. The ProLipo Plus™ Laser Lipo employs multiple wavelengths of laser energy, and VASERlipo® uses ultrasound technology. “They’re all a variation on the same theme, using some type of energy to break up the fat cells before suctioning. The first generation was lasers, the second generation uses ultrasound and the third generation employs vibration,” remarked Dr. Schwartz. “But my preferred approach is Tickle Lipo because it’s safer, removes more volume and is quicker. Offering a variety of liposuction procedures allows me to better customize each treatment to the patient and his or her body type.” All three liposuction procedures are performed in-office using local tumescent anesthesia, reducing down time, expense and risk. However, as with any medical procedure, the skill and experience of the surgeon are first and foremost.

Target Areas
Tickle Lipo can be used successfully on a wide spectrum of body areas including abdomen, love handles, thighs, double chin, arms, knees, calves, upper back, bra line and men’s breasts. The intention is to improve contour and shape so that patients will look and fit better in their clothing, with the ultimate goal of significant improvement, but not perfection.

“Normally, there’s a 50 to 60, sometimes up to 70 percent fat reduction with the procedure.
