Just Sayin’

I feel better than ever when I’m eating clean and working out. Amazing! Fantastic! Healthy! But it’s so easy to slip right off that fitness wagon. It’s even more difficult to hop back on. Ugh.

Before we had kids, my husband and I would meet at the gym every evening around 5:30. We’d work out, grab a healthy dinner and go about our night. It was a part of the daily routine. It was built into our schedule. We rarely strayed. Then I got pregnant.

I wanted to be that adorable lady who rocked it at the gym for nine months. HA! That went right out the window when my nausea kicked in and never went away; I guess that constant McDonald’s craving didn’t help matters much. I fell way off the workout train, hopped back on briefly after my first child was born, quit while pregnant with baby #2 and never really fully embraced it again. Until now. Well, I’m trying.

I made a promise to myself at the beginning of the year to get back to a healthy lifestyle. I hired a personal trainer and that is giving me the accountability I desperately need. I have a very all-or-nothing mentality and I’m trying to get better about that. I’m trying to accept that working out two or three times a week is better than nothing at all. Our crazy schedules coupled with kids’ sports and activities make it challenging to get it done some days.

I’m giving myself grace to simply do the best I can. In fact, that’s a mindset I’m trying to incorporate into all areas of life. The struggle is real, friends!
