Katherine and Brandon Goodrich

Katherine and Brandon Goodrich rediscovered each other on Facebook long after their first meeting in high school, and when the time was right for both they were ready to make a commitment for the rest of their lives.

Katherine, 23, is a pharmacy tech at Kaiser, and Brandon, 24, works as an assistant manager at Discount Tire.

“When Brandon and I met for the first time in high school, during my freshman year and his junior year, I knew I had no chance with him,” Katherine remembers. “I was shy and he was the outgoing baseball player, so I kept my feelings to myself. I changed high schools and graduated from another school. Two years passed and he actually found me on Facebook and gave me his number! We went to a Rockies game, and hit it off right off the bat–no pun intended–and even though we have had a few bumps and break ups, in the end we knew we were right for each other.”

Brandon proposed to Katherine the night of his company Christmas party in 2012. “His proposal was nothing like I ever pictured,” laughs Katherine. “We had plans to get dressed up for the party, and my friend Katie Brewer, a photographer, needed a couple to model as bride and groom. Who could turn that down? We got dressed up with professional makeup and hair and we posed like true models and had a blast. After the shoot, Brandon said he wanted to get some pictures of us in our party attire. Katie’s videographer was recording, too. I could feel Brandon getting nervous and asked him what was going on. He started to tell me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, reached in his jacket and everything went black after that. I remember sobbing and repeatedly asking if he was serious, which obviously he was! I later learned that my entire family knew, and our engagement was not only in pictures but on video for years to come! It couldn’t have been more perfect.”

The blissful couple tied the knot September 19, 2014, in the Dove House at Lionsgate Event Center. Katherine’s Maid of Honor was her sister, Lindy Kesterke; bridesmaids were sister Lacey Kesterke and friend Ashley Craddock. Brandon’s Best Man was Darren Herman, and groomsmen were Kevin Kirkpatrick and Bo Lange.

“There were so many special touches that went into our big day,” shares Katherine. “Our cake was made by a very close friend. My jewelry was my grandmother’s; my garter was crafted by Shea Marie Designs and included a piece from my dad’s shirt as the ‘something blue. My mother made me a handkerchief from her original wedding gown, and that handkerchief brought and caught many tears that evening. It was a smaller wedding in a more intimate setting that we loved. I even had a mother-daughter dance set up because my mom and I have been close my whole entire life and my wedding wouldn’t have been possible without her love and support.

Katherine and Brandon honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico, at Eldorado Casitas Royale. “It was the most beautiful place we have ever seen,” she notes. “Brandon and I had never been out of the country before so the experience of traveling in itself was an adventure. We snorkeled, swam, soaked up the sun and enjoyed married life with a lot of other honeymooners from all over the country.”
