Brooke & Preston
Brooke and Preston Davis, high school sweethearts, have a solid history that extends throughout
their family.
“We met in high school at the sophomore homecoming dance,” smiles Brooke. “I went to the dance solo, so my friend asked Preston to dance with me, and he agreed. Thank goodness! It wasn’t until New Year’s Eve when Preston asked if I could be his New Year’s kiss that we started dating. We have been together ever since!”
Preston proposed to Brooke on a Wednesday, their eight-year anniversary. “The day of the week is important because we have had a tradition of meeting for dinner every Wednesday at 3 Margaritas with my immediate family for two years, so I thought we were headed to our weekly get-together, as usual,” Brooke laughs. “We sat down at one of our typical booths and waited for my family to arrive. Preston got up to use the restroom, and while I waited I kept calling my family members– who would not answer the phone–to ask what time they would be there. At that point, Preston had been gone for quite some time, so I was getting antsy.
“One of our favorite servers came over and said my family actually sat on the other side of the building that day. I thought that was weird, but gathered all of my things and headed to the other side. When I turned the corner, our favorite servers and some of the cooks were lined up in the hallway, and each person had a rose in his or her hand. Our friend and photographer, Katie, was also there snapping pictures, and my mind went blank. I thought it was something to do with our anniversary, still not connecting the dots that it might be a proposal. I turned the corner again and saw the entire room decorated with rose petals on the ground, a table with balloons and all of the pictures we’ve taken over the years on it, as well as a room full of our close family members. I remember simply being shocked. I had absolutely no idea that that was the night I was going to get engaged. Preston took my hand, brought me over to our photos and talked with me about each of them, and then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was unforgettable!”
The blissful couple tied the knot on September 6, 2014. Brooke’s older sister, Whitney Balsley, served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were her younger sister, Lauren Balsley, the groom’s twin sisters, Kassie and Janae Davis, his younger sister, Madison Davis, her cousin, Katie Balsley, and her friends, Emily Smith and Brooke Schierkolk. Preston’s Best Man was his cousin, Dylan Davis, and groomsmen were friends Matt Smelker, Ryan Adair, Kyle Rody, Jordan Hawkes and Spencer Torres.
“We’ve been together for eight years, so all of our family and friends are really close,” Brooke smiles. “Everyone brought such beautiful energy to our wedding day, which really made it special, and we could just feel the love throughout every part of our celebration.”
Brooke and Preston honeymooned at Secrets Royal Beach, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. “It was amazing,” they share. “We took a catamaran to Saona Island, which had beautiful sandy beaches, and we held starfish at a natural pool. One day we went off the resort to learn how to roll cigars and rode horses to a private spot where we ate lunch and zip lined. The people in the Dominican Republic were some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met and the resort was gorgeous. We could sit by the ocean in a private cabana, have drinks and relax.”
