What Brings You Joy?

By  0 Comments

For me, it’s the little things.  A good cup of coffee. Reading a good book. Enjoying a beautiful day outside.

The reality is, I usually only get half way through a cup of coffee before I start chasing the kids on a Saturday morning.

Speaking of my kids, I have good intentions to read more. And it goes in waves. But finding time is hard and most the time I will pick a nap over reading a couple chapters.

Now, this is my perfect Saturday. (Shhhh! Don’t tell my kids.) Saturday soccer games get cancelled and we have absolutely nothing to do. It’s my favorite thing when there is nothing on my weekend to-do list. I have a hot cup of coffee in hand, sitting outside on our deck with my kids, reading a few pages of a new book. Best day ever!

We have lived in our house for nearly ten years. For many years we had hopes of replacing our run-down deck. But then again, kids. And childcare. And life. You know how it goes.

Ten years later, and we finally replaced our deck last year. Now we can relax, read, drink a hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa together on a chilly morning. The girls even tried yoga on the deck one morning!

Ahh, the simple things in life. I love that my girls know we don’t have to go anywhere to have fun and try something new and different. We can enjoy a beautiful day outside with a moment of peace and serenity. I soak in these moments. I know I will blink, and they soon will be grown and out of the house. But I hope they always enjoy the simple joys in life like their mom.

Happy Spring!
