Joyful Moments

There is something special that happens when you find your joy. It’s like a light literally turns on inside you. You are beaming from inside to out. It’s not only a feeling inside but it’s a vibe that you radiate.

One of the only things better than finding your joy as a parent is the moment you see it happen for your child.

My oldest has been in sports since she was three. She has enjoyed everything from soccer to softball. Year to year and season to season, she had a lot of fun and made some great memories. I could see the last couple years she was just going through the motions.

During quarantine we decided to try something new. Now her world is all about bars, beams and backflips. I have never seen her happier. She is literally doing cartwheels every day in our living room. She looks forward to her practices each week; when I pick her up from class, she can barely get all her words out fast enough to tell me about the new things she has learned.

In reflection, I wish we had started gymnastics sooner for her. She had mentioned it a few times, but we were afraid to add another thing to our parent plate. It’s the best thing we could have ever done.

It’s a good life lesson for me as well.
Life is short. Don’t wait to try something new.
