Family is Everything

By  0 Comments

We don’t have to travel far to make it to one of my favorite family spots—our driveway.

I love exploring our great city with my kids, but my perfect evening together as a family is right at home with a lawn chair for me, bikes and bats for the kids; some great weather helps too! Everyone gets a swing of the bat, even my littlest lady at the age of two. I am pretty sure the helmet outweighs her, but she is just so darn happy to be outside playing with her sisters.

Sometimes it’s the simple moments when you can connect the most, and I have also learned to really appreciate my blessings in those moments with my family.

Some of my greatest childhood memories growing up were playing along Raintree Lake at home with my family in Lee’s Summit. The simple joy of playing in the dirt with my mom, brother and little sister would keep us busy for hours. A smile comes to my face when I think of my childhood, and if I play my cards right, I hope the same will be true for my kids when they think of their childhood family memories.

I am certain that I have the best family in the world. It’s been a wonderful journey to see how our family has evolved over the years. When I think of family the list is endless–my big Italian family from northeast KC, my wonderful family I gained when I married my husband–and now my family with our children. It is quite a blessing to have such a wonderful support system.

The old saying is true; it takes a village to raise a child and I count my blessings every day my village is strong with KC roots. This probably won’t surprise you, but the women are the glue to our family. I would be lost as a mom without these strong women. I am so lucky to have my mother, my mother-in-law, and my stepmother to lean on. The only thing better than a wonderful mom is having the best set of grandmothers for your children.

Just like so many of you, I am one lucky lady.
