The Center for Women’s Health: A Welcoming Place for All Women

By  0 Comments

For the past 40 years, the Center for Women’s Health has been offering expert, individual care to women across the Kansas City and Kansas metro area. They understand that choosing the right obstetrician/gynecologist is a very important decision for women. Listening is one of their best attributes, as is providing a space where someone can speak frankly without embarrassment.

Traci (Hodes) Nauser, MD, has been with the practice since 1998. Her father, Herbert C Hodes, MD, founded the practice in 1978 and served the Kansas City area for almost 40 years before retiring in January 2017.

Tristan Fowler, DO
New to the practice is Tristan Fowler, DO, who joined the team last summer and is thrilled to call Kansas City home. He was born in the Philippines, grew up in Brazil with his parents and three siblings until moving to America for college with plans to go to medical school. “I moved here in 2011 and went to Kansas City University of Medicine for my master’s and medical degree,” he noted “I graduated in 2016 and then moved to Lansing, Michigan, to complete my residency. I was there for four years and graduated from MSU Sparrow OBGYN Residency in 2020.”

He and his partner of 13 years have decided to make KC their home. They recently purchased a home near downtown Kansas City and live there with their dachshund, Zeke, and cat, Soho. He expressed that he is here to stay and call KC home.

His philosophy of care is near and dear to him. “I think that from an aspect of being a minority provider, I can offer women of any minority a different perspective and viewpoint. I’ve always loved taking care of patients in general and, having grown up with two sisters and my mom, I understand women and feel comfortable and love working with them,” he smiled. “I treasure the delivery portion of being an OBGYN. It is special to take care of them all through pregnancy, then deliver babies. This is a part of life that is very special, and I’m honored to be there at the moment.”

Kelsey Sellers, DNP, APRN
Another new face at the practice is Kelsey Sellers, Nurse Practitioner, DNP, APRN, who joined the team this month. She complements the group, offering even more personal expertise to the team. Originally from Colby, Kansas, she became a nurse in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree from Washburn University. “I have been a labor and delivery nurse for 14 years, then got my doctorate of NP from KU this past May,” she explained. “I was labor and delivery nurse in Lawrence for five years, then did travel nursing around the country. I had a couple contracts in California, Texas, Los Angeles and Hawaii. Then I settled down in KC and at Menorah Medical Center, which is where I met Dr Nauser. I was working with her as a labor and delivery nurse there when she offered me a job.”

She recently had a baby boy, TJ, who joined two-year-old brother, Trey. MJ is her husband, and she credits him as being her grounding support as she worked to become a nurse practitioner. “My passion is women’s health and pregnancy, and I am very excited to be with this group of people,” she reiterated. “I feel I’m able to provide a holistic approach to women’s care, meeting both their physical and emotional needs during visits. With all my years of experience, I can help address some of their pregnancy and delivery anxieties.”
