Salinity Salt and Flotation Spa: Float Your Way to a Stress-Free Life

By  0 Comments

Many of us understand and relish the power of water; whether we swim in the ocean, the lake or pool, or simply float in a hot tub or bath, the benefits are naturally illuminating. Terry Amerine, founder of Salinity Salt & Flotation Spa, certainly understands this concept. He, his wife and sons have made it their life mission to share this beneficial experience with the public.

His inspiration to open this healing business came to him when he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 50. “It was a shocking diagnosis, as I had never had any health issues prior to this,” he noted. “As I researched it, I learned that Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune system disease. My immune system was attacking my own body’s ability to make natural insulin, which meant I would be insulin dependent the rest of my life.”

He soon discovered that common allergens are the leading cause of immune system deficiencies and the air in our homes and offices is the major source for these allergens. With that information, he decided to start an air quality and mold remediation business, Genesis Home Restorations, with his sons to address these air quality issues; the major caveat was that it must use 100 percent natural products and processes.

Strengthen Immunity
The spa was the obvious next step in his pursuit of wellness. “As stated, allergens are the leading factor for immune issues, closely followed by stress. Our spa and the treatments we offer are focused on reducing both,” he smiled. “The spa has a beach concept, as there is nothing more relaxing than time at the beach and our dry salt sessions basically provide the same benefits of breathing in salt as spending a day at the beach.”

He explained that salt is nature’s antiviral and antibacterial, so dry salt sessions help eliminate pathogens in the respiratory system. Salt can also help with a wide variety of skin conditions. He recommends doing sessions a couple times a week for best results; it’s similar to the need to go to the gym more than once a week.

The float sessions in the Halotherapy rooms not only reduce stress but also pain from injuries and arthritis. Float has also helped people who suffer from PTSD. Many current and retired military personnel, first responders and healthcare workers have found it helpful. “To that end, we have a program called FLOAT ON US in which the public can donate floats to be used by these individuals,” he related.

Air Quality Protection
Since Terry Amerine owns Genesis Home Restorations, Salinity Salt & Flotation Spa had the opportunity to incorporate several of the processes and equipment for excellent air quality. This includes the use of state-of-the-art technology that circulates oxidizers throughout the spa to combat airborne and surface contaminants such as COVID-19. This system runs constantly when the spa is open. Hypochlorous acid, the same acid our bodies produce to fight infections, is used to disinfect all touch surfaces between guests. Personnel also treat and spray the float room with a concentration of hydrogen peroxide between sessions.

Treat Yourself
This month, Salinity Salt & Flotation Spa is offering Mother’s Day specials and 30 percent off all memberships. Memberships include unlimited use of the dry salt rooms and discounts on all float sessions and the therapeutic products offered, which include Himalayan salt bath products, Salt Soothers bath salts and the Warm Buddies heat wraps that guests enjoy in the dry salt beach room.

“Improving lives naturally is our mission and truly the foundation of our company,” he reiterated. “We intertwine treatment for the body and the mind. Everything we breathe into our lungs can have an impact on our health and well-being. To that end, both our businesses provide ways to improve the entire self.”

With the chaos and stress surrounding us these days, taking time for self-care is invaluable. Water, whether you’re floating in it or drinking it, can be a great tool when it comes to centering yourself.
