Locks and Pull: A Dream Come True for Anyone Expressing Personal Style

By  0 Comments

In an ever-evolving world of style, décor and design, Kansas City is fortunate to have a local business in Locks and Pulls, which specializes in decorative hardware for your home. With two locations, in Overland Park and Kansas City North, Locks and Pulls has thousands of door, bath and cabinet hardware selections in stock that will satisfy the basics as well as the most discriminating of tastes. Whether you are remodeling or simply want a fresh look for a room in your home, step inside to discover an expansive selection of cabinet and door hardware options.

The store was founded as a family business in 1986 and has continued to operate in that manner for the last 35 years. John Hensley and his staff have built long-standing relationships with builders, designers and homeowners. As John moves closer to retirement, his son, Adam, is now leading the company with the same high standards while updating the buying experience. These high standards don’t stop at ownership, as the entire team upholds the commitment to exceptional customer service and fostering long-term relationships with their customers.

Upholding a Legacy
“After spending summers working for my dad through high school and college, knowing in the back of my mind I’d be back, I went another direction and spent about 15 years gaining outside experience, primarily as a commercial banker,” Adam explained. “Joining the family business and continuing in the legacy that my dad created had always been a dream of mine and last year we made that dream come true. Looking towards the future, we have several technology upgrades in the works and will also be modernizing our showrooms to meet the current needs of our customers.

“While retail remains in our roots, the landscape of our customer has changed over the years. Our customers now desire a more consultative approach to the selection and buying experience. Homeowners want a designers’ touch and enjoy spending time with our sales consultants going through a multitude of product books, while getting a sense of touch and feel for the products they are purchasing.”

Both locations have showrooms that offer classic upscale product lines as well as unique artisan pieces. Baldwin, Emtek and Rocky Mountain Hardware are a few names customers will recognize but Locks and Pulls believes customers will also enjoy the options from newer decorative lines such as Classic Brass, Ashley Norton, Waterstreet Brass and Armac Martin.

Very Essential
The pandemic demanded change in everyone’s life. Perhaps one of the most significant ways people felt the impact was in how they viewed and used their home. This shift resulted in a sharp increase of home improvement and remodeling projects. Locks and Pulls followed every guideline and created a safe shopping environment while also helping customers re-imagine their living space to bring a little comfort and satisfaction to their home.

“We never closed!” Adam smiled. “As a hardware store, we are considered an essential business.”

Decorative hardware styles and finishes are always changing, and during the most recent surge in remodeling projects, Adam has seen a strong demand for matte black and satin brass product finishes in both door and cabinet hardware. Homeowners are also now moving toward mixing and matching a variety of finishes and metals throughout the home. Many homeowners are pivoting from the traditional design styles to more contemporary styles promoting clean, sharp lines.

Make a Statement
Why not make a trip to visit one of their expansive showrooms? The experience may inspire you to create a more inviting kitchen, update your bathroom or simply give you an opportunity to preview what you are dreaming up in your future home. The sales and design consultants are always there to answer any questions and assist with all your needs.

When it comes to decorative hardware for your home, Locks and Pulls should be your first (and likely only) stop. Since hardware is all they do, you won’t find their selection, price and expertise anywhere else. The extensive selection, deep inventory, attention to detail and outstanding customer service will complement your remodeling, construction or design project.

Locks and Pulls is the premier source for decorative door, bath and cabinet hardware, and Adam is proud of their tagline: “If you can’t find it at Locks and Pulls, you probably won’t.”
