Crown Town Wiffle Weekend Wiffle Ball Tournament to benefit “C” You in the Major Leagues

By  0 Comments

Remember being a kid, one swing away from earning the title of Ultimate Champion and Grand Master of the Entire Known Universe? And all it was going to take was one magical, grand slam swing of that yellow plastic bat on the white, perforated wiffle ball. Of course, hitting the grand slam meant hitting the ball over the apple tree. Then you’d run to the mailbox, also known as first base, curb was second base, Mrs. Jones’ flowerbed was third and home was Susan’s driveway.

You can live that memory again!

Crown Town Wiffle Weekend is in its third year (and it has sold out every year) with nearly 30 teams of the young (14 years old) to the young at heart (up to 70+), who come together in July for a very good cause: helping children and families in crisis in Kansas City. “C” You in the Major Leagues, a nonprofit founded by Royals General Manager Dayton Moore, is the main beneficiary of the event. The organization’s goal is to build young leaders and help families in crisis. Since the foundation started in 2014, it has granted more than $900,000 to 58 organizations, with most of that money helping people in the Kansas City community.

Through events such as Crown Town Wiffle Weekend, the organization is able to provide scholarships for youth baseball and softball camps at the Urban Youth Academy, support mentoring to high school students, and help families in crisis struggling with devastating health issues or overwhelming effects of natural disasters.

Moore strives to bring positive change to the community through CYITML, and what better way to do that than by playing wiffle ball!

Here’s how Crown Town Wiffle Weekend works:

Teams sign up to play on Friday, July 12, on unique fields at the beautiful Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy. The cost for a team of 8 to 12 people starts at $2,500. So grab your co-workers, church friends or old teammates, set your lineup, prepare your walk-up music, and register your dream team today.

What to expect at the Crown Town Wiffle Weekend Tournament?
The leadership lunch will kick off Friday’s tournament and feature brief remarks from Dayton Moore as well as a live auction, silent auction and raffle.
Crown Town Wiffle Weekend offers friendly competition on unique wiffle ball fields; some games will be streamed on MLB.com! All teams will have the opportunity to buy mulligans (they’re not just for golf) and even a paid argument with the umpires! Adding to the fun, anyone in attendance can participate in a Home Run Derby!
There’s great team swag and even some new items to be featured in a Crown Town souvenir shop at the Urban Youth Academy on the day of
the tournament.
Crown Town Wiffle Weekend features an overall community ambiance with food trucks, a family fun zone, photo booth and other activities that deliver an inviting, family-friendly fun experience.
