Cannabinoid Awareness at The Hemp Haus: CBG Shows Promise in the Fight Against Breast Cancer and More!

By  0 Comments

Remarkably, the cannabis plant has even more to offer than the many health benefits of THC and CBD. Over 100 cannabinoids along with terpenes, flavonoids and other beneficial phytonutrients can be found in this plant used by civilizations for centuries for its abundance of therapeutic properties. Many of these cannabis compounds–on their own or in concert with others–have unique therapeutic profiles. Cannabigerol, or CBG, is a cannabinoid that is showing real potential as a weapon against cancer and much more.

Nearly a century of prohibition and the scarcity of cannabinoids such as CBG have hindered the wealth of clinical studies that would prove the benefits of cannabis compounds and discover their optimum administration. But now that industrial hemp, a non-intoxicating type of cannabis plant, is legal, along with medical marijuana in most states, researchers are getting down to business. So far, CBG is proving to have some promising effects.

Cannabinoids such as THC and CBD are already prescribed for their palliative effects during cancer treatment. They can relieve nausea, stimulate appetite, alleviate pain, curb depression and anxiety, and help with sleep issues. More evidence, however, is showing up in the lab that some cannabinoids may have anti-tumor effects. Several scientific studies from the last two decades show that some cannabinoids, including CBG, inhibit tumor growth in animal models. In many cell-based studies, CBG has been shown to induce programmed cell death in human cancer cells. In a 2006 study, it specifically programmed cell death in human breast cancer cells.

The therapeutic benefits of CBG do not end here. Several studies suggest that this cannabinoid can help treat neurodegenerative diseases, glaucoma, inflammation, anxiety and more. This is why The Hemp Haus is excited to announce they will be carrying CBG and other minor cannabinoids with major therapeutic benefits beginning this fall.
