Be Prepared for Fashion Emergencies!

By  0 Comments

The holidays are right around the corner and you know what that means; it’s holiday party season! If your life is anything like mine, this can be the busiest time of the year with events and get-togethers. Sometimes I am running from one place to the next to celebrate, which doesn’t leave a lot of time to get ready or freshen up my look. After getting caught in the car a few times with wardrobe mishaps, I decided to build my own fashion emergency kit. Follow along to learn how to build your own!

Deodorant-Removing Sponges
I first discovered these sponges back in my lingerie department days. Nordstrom carried a pink sponge that made all deodorant smudges magically disappear. I will never forget the day my co-worker showed it to me. My mind was blown. I haven’t left the house without one since. Every girl needs these. The next time you are caught with white deodorant marks on your beautiful black lace top, you are going to thank me!

Static Guard
There isn’t anything worse than that pesky static in the winter. With the midi length dress trending this season, don’t be caught with the lining of your dress clinging to your tights! Carry a small travel-size version of static guard with you at all times. You can find it in the mini travel toiletries area of your local Target.

Petals, Low Beams or Pasties
Whatever cheeky word you find, they all mean the same thing: nipple covers. Sometimes you just need a little bit more “coverage” and these are the answer. They come in many different shapes, sizes and material. Some are reusable and some are disposable after one use.

Shout Wipes and Tide To-Go Pen
Nobody is perfect and spills do happen. If you are like me and wearing something white, it’s inevitable that you will spill on yourself. These wipes and handy-dandy pen could save you a lot of embarrassment and a forever stain on your favorite top!

Mini Sewing Kit
Seems easy enough, but you would be surprised at how many times I have had to sew up a hem, sew on a button or re-attach a hook and eye for a friend at a party. I mean, maybe the reason I am always fixing things is because they know I have a sewing kit too. Either way, it’s an easy way to fix something the right way instead of MacGyvering your dress with whatever small hair accessory you can find only to be fixing and re-fixing it for the entire night.

Fashion Tape
This tape can prevent an oops or a slip from a non-modest garment, can quickly fix the hem of a pant or dress that has fallen, or my personal favorite, can be placed on your bra strap and attached to your sleeveless garment to prevent bra straps from showing! Ladies, nobody needs to see your bra straps.

Wrinkle Release Spray
My biggest pet peeve is wrinkles! More and more I am seeing people wearing clothing that looks both new and also like it was just pulled out of the hamper at the same time. If you want to look somewhat polished, please take the time to steam or press your clothing before wearing it in public. If it is something that wrinkles easily, make sure you have a bottle of wrinkle release spray to at least relax the wrinkles.

Lint Roller
My second pet peeve is when people wear clothing with lint or pet hair all over. Take a second and “roll” your look. It could make the difference between your look being a 2 and a 10!
