If you are in the market for the best in breast, body, face and medical aesthetic procedures and treatments, look no further
than to the medical experts at Denver Integrated Plastic Surgery. This full-service clinic located in Englewood is fully dedicated to ensuring each patient is given the best in care while simultaneously embracing renewed vitality, inside and out.

At the helm of this highly respected practice is Dr. Ben Lee, who brings a wealth of experience to the table and whose primary focus is to help people look the way they want to feel. Dr. Lee’s practice is regarded as one of the best in Colorado and he has performed thousands of successful procedures in the past decade that speak to his skill, expertise, and most of all, passion for what he does.

Board certified in Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology, Dr. Lee is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He earned his degree in medicine with highest honors from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver and completed his surgical internship at the University of California at San Francisco. After extensive training in otolaryngology at Duke University, Dr. Lee had the opportunity to work closely with the plastic surgery division on trauma and head and neck cancer patients, which ultimately inspired him to become board certified in plastic surgery.

And while his educational and professional résumé speaks volumes about his knowledge and expertise, it is truly his care and concern for providing the best in care for his patients that speak volumes about his practice. To that end, Dr. Lee is excited about the latest developments regarding breast implants.

Dr. Lee has acquired extensive experience with the use of silicone breast implants throughout his career; silicone implants have proven to realize lower rupture rates than saline implants, as well as lower re-operation procedures. But there is something new on the market that is gaining a decided edge.

“The vast majority of the silicone implants currently used are the smooth, round ones,” noted Dr. Lee. “However, we now offer textured implants, which have a velvety cover on them built into the shell. Whereas the smooth ones have been known to move around in the breast pocket and become malpositioned, these new textured models don’t move after we initially position them in place. These implants are also slightly firmer, giving the appearance of breasts similar to those of a woman in her20s.” Smooth implants have an outer shell that is smooth and shiny, making them more likely to move around within a tissue membrane or sac that eventually forms around the implant, also known as a capsule. Because the textured implants attach to the tissue capsule around them, they are less likely to move, and because they have a thicker wall than their smooth counterparts, they can feel firmer and are more likely to have less folds and ripples.

Dr. Lee is quick to note that not all breasts are the same, however, and each woman will realize different results. Overall, however, in Dr. Lee’s estimation, the textured implants typically produce better results. “These new implants are considerably more stable and
we have encountered few documented cases of rotation issues,” stated Dr. Lee. “As a result, this has opened up a whole new market for implants.”

Dr. Lee realizes that within the United States there tends to be an idealization of how implants should appear. “Most people think of rounder breasts when it comes to implants,” explained Dr. Lee. “But that shape doesn’t exist in nature. We understand that women usually desire a more natural shape, and with this new type of implant, we can offer that to them.”

And because of the advances in medical procedures today, Dr. Lee can complete the breast implant procedure in about an hour, and while general anesthesia is offered, most patients can tolerate heavy IV sedation with local anesthesia. “They simply drift off to sleep and the next thing they know, they are waking up in recovery,” said Dr. Lee. “Of course, a certain amount of discomfort post-surgery is to be expected and the typical down time is three to four days. However, the patient can remain relatively active during that recovery time with minimal discomfort.” Further, patients can enjoy these implants for years to come and live late into life with them.

At the end of the day, what truly matters to Dr. Lee, besides a successful procedure, is the gift to each patient of self-esteem. “If I can do one simple thing such as giving my patients more confidence and pride in how they look, that is a very gratifying and rewarding experience for me,” he smiled.
