A Sporting Affair at Make-A-Wish Colorado
On March 4, 350 guests and 45 celebrity sports waiters came together to grant wishes to Colorado children facing life-threatening medical conditions at Make-A-Wish Colorado’s A Sporting Affair. The event celebrated the impact that receiving a wish has on a sick child and their family. The Brown family spoke passionately about the memories and strength they gained from son Collin’s wish to go to Hawaii. Attendees saw wish magic in action as eleven-year-old Logan received a keyboard that fits his wish for an in-home recording studio; the Colorado Avalanche surprised 17-year-old cancer survivor Brian by revealing he would spend a day with his favorite team. Mark Schlereth regaled the crowd with Super Bowl tales cheered on by Broncos alumni Larry Brunson and Billy Thompson. Olympians Max Aaron, Nathan Schrimsher and Chloe Sutton had people ready for Rio and NWSL soccer players Taryn Hemmings and Jordan Angeli described what it takes to play at the highest level of your sport. A Sporting Affair will touch more than 25 children in Colorado by granting their wishes! HLM
