Creating a Dedicated Home Office: Make It Fit Your Needs!

By  0 Comments

Rosetti Properties has been leasing residential apartments since 1957. Since that time, we have seen a lot of major events take place, but nothing like this pandemic and the new normal of remote working. Many of our tenants are working from home these days. Below are some tips to spruce up and make your home working space more productive and comfortable.

As many of us are finding ourselves working from home, we cannot help but be happy with our short new commute and comfy office clothes. Working from home offers many advantages, including flexibility of setting your own schedule, saving time and money on your daily commute, and even having heathier eating habits because you’re not tempted by the office lunch order. Being successful in a home office does not come without its challenges, however. It requires creating a space that works for both your current needs and future goals.

Identify what you need.
Knowing what office equipment, furniture and supplies you need to be successful will help you determine how much space you need to dedicate to your home office. At Rosetti, we offer many two- and three-bedroom apartment options around the Capital Region so you can create your own office space away from living space.

Invest in good office furniture.
Now that you have thought about how much office space you need; you can make some decisions on what type of office furniture you need. Choosing a comfortable chair is probably one of the most important things you can do. Since this chair will be in your home, also consider how it fits in with the current décor. Some are also choosing to invest in a standing desk. These desks encourage users to stand up; when you work from home it helps encourage you to stay active throughout the day.

Consider your work flow.
When setting up your dedicated home office, you want to make sure that you set it up in way that will help you be more productive. When you have to run back and forth around the office, it takes away from productivity. Think about how much you use the printer or throw something in the trash.

Think about lighting needs.
Make sure your home office has plenty of light. Natural daylight has been said to increase productivity and alertness. When you are working from home, those are some important attributes. Many of our apartments have big open windows that allow a lot of natural light into the rooms.

Look into technology and service needs.
When you work from home, you need to ensure you can stay connected. Having reliable Wi-Fi and phone networks is going to be one of the most important tips for creating your dedicated work-from-home office. Select Rosetti Properties apartments come with basic cable and high-speed internet included. Please check our listings for availabilities.

Ensure you are using proper wires and cords.
Make sure that your electrical setup is safe and secure. You should not use multiple extension cords or leave your computer on at all times. This can create a safety hazard and potentially start a fire. Safety is key, so please use equipment according to the manufacturer-recommended use guidelines.

Add some greenery and office décor.
If your dedicated office space is in a location that can be closed off from the rest of the living space, your décor options are endless. Try hanging motivational and encouraging office quotes to keep you inspired. Add a plant or two. Office plants help increase productivity and replenish focus. When working from home, staying focused is something we can all use a little help with.

Incorporate a way to keep time.
When you work from home, it’s easy to forget to take a break or work well past closing time. Adding a clock or scheduling breaks through a notification system can help you stay on track and not feel overworked.

Take breaks often.
Even if your break is getting up and grabbing a snack, taking breaks is essential in helping employees de-stress and recharge for the rest of the workday. Working from home should not be any different. At Rosetti, our properties have easy access to walking trails and outdoor recreation areas such as our seasonal pools and athletic courts.

Clean and declutter your office space.
Having a messy office especially when you have a home office can be easily distracting and often negatively affect your off-work hours. When you are worried about your work you can’t shut off your brain. Being clean and organized helps ensure you did not forget anything before clocking out.

The great thing is a home office can be anything and anywhere you want. We wish you much success this year and look forward to helping you find your perfect new space.
