Dr. Shuler emphasizes that they stand apart in the industry with a solid history of professionalism. She and her staff show in their delivery of services that they care for the individual needs of the family.

Peace in the midst of distress. Comfort when your heart is aching. Security at a time of turmoil.

That is what Dr. Barbara Carey Shuler, owner and CEO of Shuler’s Memorial Chapel, Inc., promises when people come to her. She operates these two family-owned independent funeral homes, one in Delray Beach and one in West Palm Beach. The company was founded in 1985 by her late husband, James Lamar Shuler, a licensed funeral director and embalmer (LED/EMB).

“We are upholding the same standards of professional, superb, and caring service, a mission he set forth,” she expressed. “The newest facility, opened in 2007 in West Palm Beach, is dedicated to him. The centerpiece at the West Palm Beach funeral home is the beautifully restored, historic church chapel, named the Marian Stewart Chapel after James’s mother. It is a premier funeral home with the latest state-of-the-art equipment, products and services. It also has beautiful private chapels and family rooms, and is fully air-conditioned for viewings, services and for repasts. Counselors and funeral director are available seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.”

Dr. Shuler emphasizes that they stand apart in the industry with a solid history of professionalism. She and her staff show in their delivery of services that they care for the individual needs of every family. “We devote attention to the smallest details and, most importantly, are known in the industry for the ability to restore, repair, and reconstruct the physical features of an individual to his or her natural appearance,” she noted,

Dr. Shuler knows prearranging a funeral can be one of the most difficult things a family will ever do. She emphasizes that planning and financial arrangements are extremely important. There are so many decisions to be made by individuals or family members at the time of a loved one’s passing. Most often, the biggest decision is covering the cost of the funeral arrangements. Preparing for these needs in advance takes away the heavy emotional burden, so family members don’t have to make all of the decisions regarding the actual funeral, such as casket selection, order of service and church arrangements while grieving.

By making prearranged decisions about end of life disposition, you can ease the pain and suffering of loved ones. This will ensure that your last wishes are respected. Planning spares friction and financial hardship that may occur during such a difficult time. It requires organizing personal data so the family does not have to worry about locating vital information and can spend time dealing with their loss.

Families benefit when they call upon Dr. Shuler and her staff because they work with each one based on their individual budget. “We have an affordable plan that will give a deceased individual a dignified and complete service. We have three full-time licensed funeral directors/embalmers who have 50 years of experience among them, and an additional professional staff with more than 60 years of experience,” she noted.

They are a socially responsible corporation and support the community by sponsoring and underwriting many activities and events, including a yearly turkey giveaway to needy families, and by providing toys to children in need at Christmas. “We are caregivers to elderly individuals in nursing homes and assisted living facilities who have no close family members, and we make generous contributions to educational institutions in Palm Beach County and donate food, clothing, labor and other services to many organizations and churches,” she confirmed.

Dr. Shuler wants families to know that the security of funds with Shuler’s Memorial Chapel is paramount. The payments made toward a prearrangement plan are placed in a trust with the State of Florida.

“We take pride in the fact that we are the funeral home of choice for generations of families. This represents the trust of individuals we have assisted in the past who are pleased with highly professional and compassionate service,” she smiled. HLM
