Holiday Traditions

By  0 Comments

The list can be endless this time of year.

Sending out holiday cards, visiting Santa, making Christmas cookies; the list goes on! My family has so many wonderful traditions each year and I love them all. I’m just like any other busy mom during the holidays; sometimes there aren’t enough hours in the day to get it all done before Santa arrives. Some years, if you make it to the end of the year with your sanity that is a success.

The last few years I have discovered a game changer to the holiday hustle mindset—let it go! Traditions are wonderful and some are a must-do each year, but, ladies, cut yourself some slack and be open to the idea that not everything has to be done every year. I know we all want to do those yearly traditions, but I can tell you, once I decided to let a couple things go and the pressure was off, honestly, I was able to enjoy the season more with my family.

I will confess. A couple years back I didn’t send out a holiday card. Gasp! There are ebbs and flows and sometimes it is just easier to let it go for the moment, and then you can pick it up next year. I promise it doesn’t have to be perfect or exactly the same each year, and that’s okay.

Last year was a great example. We have a wonderful tradition of visiting Crown Center to see Santa with the kids. It’s such a magical place during the holidays. Last year I decided to reach out to Kriss Kringle myself, and at the last minute all the stars aligned and he surprised the girls at our home. Can you imagine my daughter’s face when Kriss rang the doorbell to our house?! That was an amazing memory for my middle daughter at our front door. All my girls loved the visit. They were beaming with excitement.

Be open to change, ladies. Who knows; it may lead to a new holiday tradition for next year!
