Fashion Flash Forward

By  0 Comments

Where does the time go? It literally feels like yesterday I was snapping onesies on my daughters.

Remember when your kids were babies? If you were like me, I had a closet filled with outfits for a newborn, three-month, six-month, and it seemed like FOREVER until my girls would ever wear those 12-month-old clothes at the time.

But before you know it, you are folding the outfits away to save or donate because they are all too small. Their closets are no longer filled with clothes for when they get bigger, but instead you’re trying to keep up with what still fits.

We hit a milestone moment this fall.

It happened when I was out shopping for new shoes with my oldest daughter, Ashlyn. Out of the entire shoe store, we picked the same exact pair. Not the same style, one in kid sizes, one in adults. They were the same exact shoe, both in women’s sizes! I know in a heartbeat she will be stealing my shoes and clothes. We have a similar style and almost the same size in shoes now too. How can she be wearing nearly the same size as me? She is still my baby at age 11!

My middle, Allie Jean, is my free spirit. She has two outfit choices each day. It’s either her soccer jerseys and sports clothes, or the pink shirt. Not one of her pink shirts. The pink shirt. She has plenty of shirts that she could wear, but she always gravitates to the same pink top. She has had it since she was five. She is ten now and it still fits both her body and personality perfectly.

Now, my littlest lady, Aubrianna, marches to the beat of her own drum. She loves to layer her #OOTD (Outfit of the Day). And no, this isn’t just in the colder weather. This is year-long, every day. For her bike ride in this picture, she had on a dress with a skirt underneath. Sweatpants and a sweatshirt underneath those layers. What can I say? She has her own unique style!

There was a time when I dressed my girls and put a lot of effort into how they looked each day. I decided many years ago our time was much better spent enjoying the moment instead of wasting one minute debating clothing choices. The last ten years have been a quick ride with their fashion; I can only imagine where we will be in the next ten years!
