A Sea of Red

By  0 Comments

That is what you will see just about everywhere you go in KC as Chiefs football returns this month!

The excitement in Kansas City is palpable. After the run we had through the playoffs last season, some fans may have been counting the days until kickoff at Arrowhead returns again.

Being a Kansas City native, I know that we have certainly seen all the highs and lows from our sports team over the years. The highs are a lot more fun, right?

I can remember, as a young child living in Kansas City, how exciting our Royals World Series victory was in 1985.

Flash forward to recent years, and my children now have those same incredible memories from our World Series win in 2015. Everywhere you went in Kansas City around and after our World Series runs, all you would see was royal blue. It was such a wonderful time of celebration for our city.

Those same vibes are in the air now, but this time with a sea of Chiefs red.

The one thing that stands out to me is the undeniable sense of community that our city has developed. I do think that our KC sports teams have helped unite us in some aspects. It’s fun to wear your KC Chiefs, Royals or Sporting gear with pride. Kansas Citians have always been solidly linked, but our bond certainly feels stronger now.

Regardless of our wins or losses, I feel that we have already won in a sense this season. Our community bond is stronger and our memories won’t fade any time soon. Kansas City pride and Chiefs pride are both memories and feelings that my children will have forever.  I hope my kids remember 2020 for our Chiefs Super Bowl victory!!
