Tess & John Tie the Knot

Tess (Smrt) Mussatto, 25, graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BS in nursing. She currently works at Dartmouth Hospital in the PACU.

John Mussatto, 27, grew up in Osage City and spent his college years in Los Angeles. He recently graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and started his residency in anesthesiology this summer at Dartmouth Hospital.

“We met through mutual friends at Harpo’s while watching the Royals game,” laughs Tess. “We’ve had quite a whirlwind. John proposed in the Rose Garden at Loose Park on my 25th birthday; the park is our favorite spot to walk and play with our wheaten terrier puppy, Watson.”

The blissful couple tied the knot on June 4, 2016, in a traditional ceremony at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Serving as Maid of Honor was Claire Smrt, the bride’s sister; bridesmaids were long-time friends Madalyn Radetic, Alexis Collins, Lindsey Emerson and Lizzie Walton. John’s Best man was his older brother, Peter Mussatto; groomsmen were Jon Swan, Derek Jensen, Mike Parker and John LeCluyse

“We had the most beautiful wedding day!” Tess smiles. “Our wedding day was actually the last day we got to see all of our friends and family before we moved, so it was one big emotional going-away party and wedding celebration! We had such a beautiful, classic venue that matched all of my dreams for a timeless summer wedding.”

Tess and John honeymooned in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where they stayed on the beach at an all-inclusive resort. “In the space of six weeks, we bought a house in Vermont, got married, honeymooned in Mexico, moved across country and started new jobs,” John laughs. “We thought it best to get all the top stressors out of the way during our first month of marriage.” Tess adds, “Although I love the Plaza, Crossroads District, the Royals, 39th Street and all things Kansas City, I’m looking forward to the mountains, majestic fall seasons and trips to Boston!” HLM
