Megan and Marcus Tied The Knot

By  0 Comments

Megan Gullach Ruiz is 31 and was born and raised in Olathe, Kansas; she is an interior designer in the Kansas City area. “My husband and I had been together for exactly 13 years when we had our wedding,” Megan smiles. “In those 13 years of being together we were blessed with three beautiful children, Karsyn, ten, Avery, eight, and Ryne, five.”

Marcus Ruiz is 32 years old and was born and raised in the Kansas City area. He attended Kansas State University and is currently an account executive. His hobbies include playing softball and golf. He and Megan met through a mutual friend at a Royals game in May 2001.

“Marcus was so romantic and thoughtful to include our kids in his proposal,” shares Megan. “I was with my son at a friend’s birthday party, and while I was there he took our daughters out to the Lenexa Dam, where we often take family walks and bike rides through the trails. The three of them wrote out at the bottom of the dam, ‘Megan, will you marry me?’ After he convinced me to go on a walk during a hot day in August 2013 with all of our kids, we walked to the top of the dam and I looked over and saw what was written below. When I turned around he was on one knee asking me if I would marry him!”

The blissful couple tied the knot on May 26, 2014, in an outdoor ceremony under a willow by the pond at The Kelly Gallery. Karsyn and Avery were the bride’s Maids of Honor, and Ryne was Best Man for Marcus. The bride was resplendent in a brocade gown and simple hand-tied bouquet of peonies, and the children gleefully thronged around the couple as they said their vows.

“Since we had been together for so long, we really wanted an intimate, and simple wedding,” notes Megan. “We wanted to spend the day with people who had such a great impact in our lives. Since we got married in late spring we were able to create a beautiful garden wedding, with our reception under a tent. The dessert bar with cakes and cookies, some of which were furnished by our friends, and the lemonade were a big hit.”

“For our honeymoon, we went to Colorado Springs for a few days without children,” Marcus shares. “After that our sisters and their husbands joined us with all of the kids and spent the rest of the week together for a great family time.” HLM
