Tied the Knot: September 7, 2019

Long-married couples say that their spouse is their best friend. Lindsey and Max Jenks have taken that path to long-lasting happiness.

“Max and I were best friends our freshman year of high school, and finally senior year we decided that we wanted to give a relationship a shot,” Lindsey smiles. “We are so happy that we did!”

Lindsey Jenks, 23, graduated from Baker University School of Nursing, and attended Kansas State University for two years. She works as an RN in a Kansas City neurosurgical intensive care unit. She loves to travel, craft and spend time with friends and family.

Max Jenks, 23, graduated from Kansas State University. He is an account manager at Ryan Transportation, a freight brokerage company in Overland Park, Kansas. He enjoys playing basketball and he’s very passionate about music. Max and Lindsey live in Overland Park, Kansas, where they just bought a house together and will soon add a puppy to their family.

Lindsey had a feeling the proposal was imminent. “Max is terrible at hiding things. He invited both of our families to go to KC Wine Co with us. We were walking outside to the food trucks. He quickly diverted paths and he walked down the vineyards and got down on one knee. My mom was in charge of getting photographs, so she was sprinting across the vineyard to try to get pictures so at that point I think the entire winery knew we were getting engaged. When we walked out from the vineyards afterward, the whole crowd sitting outside was cheering for us!”

The blissful couple tied the knot September 7, 2019. Lindsey was attended by two maid of honors and six bridesmaids, while Max chose two best men and six groomsmen, all friends from across their lives who celebrated this special day.

“Our wedding was the most special day of our entire lives!” Lindsey shares. “We did not do a first look, so our first time seeing each other was when we were walking down the aisle. There was not a dry eye in the whole room! It was such a special moment and I would advocate for everyone to save that special moment for the ceremony.”

Instead of doing traditional cake, Lindsey and Max had a donut wall, a pegboard covered in donuts; at the top it read “Holy Matrimony.” “We served our favorite foods at our wedding, tacos and queso, and had frozen margaritas!” she laughs. “Our wedding truly portrayed our personalities perfectly and our venue, Town Square, really made our vision come to life.”

The couple honeymooned in Maui, Hawaii, which was on their bucket lists. “We always say Hawaii is like four states in one, with the beach, the mountains, the volcanos and the desert all in one! It was truly paradise!”
