Emily and Brooks Foreman
Tied the Knot: September 1, 2018
Emily (Johnson) Foreman, 25, was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 2015 and immediately began work in human resources with an engineering consulting company in Kansas City. Emily enjoys watching Hallmark movies with her dachshund pup, Willa, on her lap, at a happy hour with friends, or exploring a new restaurant with her husband.
Brooks Foreman, 26, born and raised in Shawnee, Kansas, studied at the University of Kansas; he works for a family-owned gourmet foods company as an inside sales rep. Brooks enjoys cooking and grilling, watching sports with friends, and hanging with Emily and Willa.
“We had known of each other for a few years before we officially met,” shares Emily. “In our senior year at KU, we met when we had been invited to Bullwinkle’s Bar in Lawrence, Kansas, one Saturday of spring break. There weren’t many people out, so we had a group of us playing Cards Against Humanity and sharing pitchers of beer. Brooks started talking to me and we ended up going to dinner with a mutual friend. Brooks got my number and we’ve talked every day since!”
Brooks’ proposal came at the perfect time for Emily’s family to participate. “We were in the Adirondacks in upstate New York for my family reunion, with my mom’s whole side of the family,” Emily smiles. “Brooks asked me to go down to the dock and sit with him for a little bit before dinner. While we were looking at the amazing scenery and talking, Brooks proposed! Behind us, we heard my parents, my sister and her boyfriend, and about 40 other family members clapping and cheering. It was an absolute dream!”
The blissful couple tied the knot September 1, 2018. Among the bridal party were Emily’s sister as Maid of Honor and 11 bridesmaids, including a cousin and friends from childhood, KU and work. Brooks’ brother was his best man, and his ten groomsmen included several childhood friends and KU friends
“Our wedding day was an absolute dream,” Emily reveals. “It was so special to see everything I planned come to life. The most special moment of our wedding was after our ceremony, when Brooks and I had a few minutes privately to really take in the moment and be with each other. After that moment, it was so special to walk through all the crowd and do a bubble sendoff onto the party bus to take us to the reception.”
Emily and Brooks honeymooned at Secrets Cap Cana hotel in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. “We wanted to go somewhere all-inclusive and a place where we could really just get away, relax and spend quality time with each other. We had a personal butler and got couples massages, so you could say it was incredible!” ■
