Christine and Erik Woods

Tied the Knot: June 9, 2018

Thanks to social media, Christine and Erik Woods rediscovered their true connection long after high school days. “We met at St. Thomas Aquinas High school our freshman year,” Christine shares. “We attended the Women Pay All dance together our senior year but after high school we lost touch. In 2013, we reconnected on Facebook and went on our first date on New Year’s Eve to the movies.”

Christine, 31, is a special education teacher. Erik, 30, completed college and now works as a purchasing agent. Christine and Erik live in Overland Park, Kansas, with their two-month-old daughter, Kennedy.

Erik proposed after getting permission from Christine’s parents. “We were in our first apartment getting ready to go to the Royals game and his parents stopped by to drop off some boxes,” she reminisces. “He told me that his mom had gotten rid of a sweatshirt and wanted me to see it. When I picked it up, it had my future monogram on it; I turned around and he was down on one knee. We then went to my parents’ home to celebrate with our friends and family.”

The blissful couple tied the knot June 9, 2018. Members of the wedding party were family and friends; Christine’s Maid of Honor was her sister, Jill Hinman. Her Matron of Honor was Amy Hopping, and bridesmaids were Emily Castelo, Whitney Dalton, Sara Woods, Jennifer Barrett and Kelly Hinman. Erik’s Best Man was his brother, Adam Woods; groomsmen were Brandon Vacek, Ryan Vogelsburg, Justin Ramirez and Nick Hinman. Flower girls were Aalyiah Protzman and Alexis Woods; Thompson Hinman and Luke Hinman served as ring bearers. Serving as ushers were John Boehm, Nick Protzman, Greg Barrett, Linda Boehm and Jessica Protzman. The special role of hype man was carried out by Charlie Boehm and Mike Boehm.

“Our wedding day was special because our reception was at the Jefferson Hall, and we were the first wedding to ever be held there,” Christine smiles. “We also were able to honor my late father by having all my uncles and my brother dance with me during the father-daughter dance. We also celebrated him by dancing to his favorite song, ‘Friends in Low Places.’”
