Milestone for Overland Park SCHEELS

While SCHEELS of Overland Park will celebrate its one-year anniversary in June, the company has a long history. The first SCHEELS store opened in 1902 in Sabin, Minnesota, as a small hardware and general merchandise shop. Although SCHEELS was firmly rooted in the hardware business, the owners added a small selection of sporting goods in 1906. As interest grew over the years, more sports lines were offered along the way. Athletic shoes and clothing were added in 1972 and in 1989 SCHEELS opened its first All Sports Super Store. Now stores are located in North Dakota, Iowa, South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Nevada, Illinois, Utah and Kansas.

“We have 26 locations in 11 states and are continuing our expansion of serving the sports-minded individual and family,” shared Carly. “Our next store will open in the fall of 2017 in Johnstown, Colorado.”
