Just Sayin’

By  0 Comments

Do you ever look back at old photos and seriously question your fashion choices?! Times you were really feelin’ yourself and the outfit you had on, only to look back years later and wonder what in the world you were thinking?

My neighbors were posing for homecoming pictures recently and it prompted me to take a look back at some of my own from the ’90s. I’m not sure what was more frightening, my perm and very high, hair-sprayed bangs or the blue velvet dress I wore with black tights and casual flats. Let’s just say, it wasn’t my best look!

Styles change and I’ve always tried to keep up with the trends. But after having kids, it got a little trickier. I want to look cute, but I also need to wear functional attire! I’d personally like to thank the inventor of leggings and give a big high five to whoever came up with athleisure wear.

I have a job where I could show up in just about anything and not a soul would care. But it’s funny; even wearing sweats and hats gets old. Sometimes I need to wear “real clothes” just to remind myself that I’m still human! I have really embraced the lifestyle I live, the job I have and the kids (and dogs) that need Mama to get down on the floor and play. I need to be comfortable. So, it’s a lot of jeans, sneakers and sweatshirts. It’s a lot of athleisure wear. But I feel like I’ve found a way to keep it casual, comfy, functional and cute.

The section of my closet with the sassy girls’ night out or date night outfits has gotten smaller. That’s for sure. But my heart has never felt more full. I’m doing what I love and wearing what makes sense.
