Kate has always admired high fashion, but she fell head over heels in love with the bridal industry after college while apprenticing with a bridal wear designer. Instead of consistently constructing her own dress inspirations, as many designers do, she works with brides to make their dream vision come to life. During the consultation process, Kate takes the bride’s favorite fabrics, silhouette and details and fuses them into one cohesive design. “I’m not making something for them, I’m making something with them,” she said. “I like being hands on and putting the time and energy into creating something special and unique.” Kate enjoys the inspiration and challenge that comes along with creating custom dress designs.
The custom couture experience takes approximately five to nine months and allows the bride to get a first-hand look at her wedding gown from the initial sketch to the final stitch. The consultation consists of Kate learning all about the bride’s preferences. After she sketches the bride’s dream dress, sample materials will be reviewed and composed as every sequin, bead and applique brings her dress to life. Fittings and alterations are scheduled throughout to ensure the perfect fit, followed by the finishing touches that will accompany the bride down the aisle.
