The Sneaker Revisited
It is so hard to believe, but this month marks my fourth year writing the fashion blog for HERLIFE Magazine! I love being able to share my love of style and fashion with all of you! So, in honor of my four-year anniversary, I decided to throw it back to the topic I covered in April 2016, my favorite type of shoe—the SNEAKER!
Back in 2016, the lifestyle sneaker was just starting to take the stage in the fashion world. Now that we are in 2020, the sneaker trend has not only stayed in vogue but it has now become a wardrobe staple! Wearable with almost everything in your wardrobe, even dresses, sneakers are comfortable, easy and a great way to show off your personality! The Retro Sneaker
I love a retro sneaker. This style says, “I’m laid back, a little sporty, but I care about my style.” Look for well-known brands such as Nike or Adidas for styles that have been brought out of the vault like the Nike Blazer high top, the Adidas Stan Smith or a Vans Old Skool.
The Leather Slip On Sneaker
This sneaker is perfect for you if your style is simple and effortless. You can find it in all sorts of fabrics and textures; my favorite is a perforated leather. Bonus: because of the shape of the shoe and where the top of the shoe hits on your foot, this style can be very slimming to your leg!
The Luxury Sneaker
The dressiest of all of the sneakers: think clean white leather with a sleek profile. This lace-up shoe says, “My style is polished and refined.” A fun twist: this style of sneaker is being paired with more business casual looks or even the power suit!
The Statement Sneaker
This style has been around for a long time, but it has become mainstream in the past year. If you are trend forward, this style is for you! Imagine a sneaker with a mix of textures, fabrics and colors combined to make an exciting and wild statement. My favorite? Golden Goose. It’s definitely an investment brand, but if you wear sneakers almost every day like I do, the shoe will pay for itself! If you are on the hunt for a shoe that speaks for your extroverted or outgoing personality, this is it! ■
