Packing With Style for Summer Vacation

By  0 Comments

Summertime is around the corner, which means the vacation season is about to commence. But how many times have you packed for a trip only to end up taking your entire closet, including ten pairs of shoes? Then you arrive at the airport, weigh your luggage and it’s past the maximum weight. Finally, when you reach your destination, you realize you are spending hours in your hotel room trying to decide what to wear each day. This scenario is far too familiar for many people and can take the fun out of traveling.

The more I work with my clients, the more I find that packing for trips is one of the main complaints I hear! Abbywoodwear to the rescue! I devised a plan to alleviate the stress of travel packing and decided to try it out on myself with my most recent trip to Cabo San Lucas. The results were a success! By following a simple plan that included a little bit of organization and a little bit of style, I was able to pack light and enjoy my vacation without worrying about what I was going to wear! I even implemented the plan for my husband and he loved it too!

Are you going on a trip soon? Here are some helpful tips on how to pack smart and be stylish on your next trip!

  Check the weather.

Analyze your travel plans day by day or by event to determine what you need to pack.

Add up the total number of looks you need.

Choose a neutral color palette to maximize more looks from fewer items. Everything will match!

Put together a working capsule wardrobe for your entire travel time and choose head-to-toe looks for each day or event from travel day up until the day you return.

Photograph them for future reference and save on your smartphone.

Why is a capsule wardrobe important for packing? Think about a capsule wardrobe as a collection of a few essential items of clothing and accessories in classic styles that can be mixed and matched to create multiple looks. When you are traveling, you need to be somewhat strategic because everything you wear needs to fit in a teeny tiny bag that is about one-eighteenth of your closet. Creating a travel capsule wardrobe is the easiest way to organize, plan and get the most out of what you are taking.

Why is a color palette important? Because when you are traveling you want to enjoy it, not worry about what you are going to wear! My favorite color palette to use is neutral colors such as black, white and denim and then pop in a color! Keeping the color palette neutral makes it super easy to build multiple looks from minimal items because everything goes together! Adding that pop of color will help each combination look special. I especially love this palette of black, white, denim and red. In fact, I used this color combo in Cabo and felt great the whole time!
