One of my favorite things about being a personal wardrobe stylist is the shopping! I love the thrill of the hunt to find unique pieces that will enhance my clients’ wardrobes. When I go shopping, I search at multiple locations–department stores, fast-fashion shops, online and even everyone’s favorite, Target! Lately I have shifted to shopping more and more at locally owned boutiques.

My retail experience was for a company that put an emphasis on developing long-lasting relationships with customers. The merchandise was great and excellent customer service was always an expectation. Now that I’m running my own business, I’m always looking for places to shop that will measure up to those key fundamentals for retail success. Luckily, I have found some great new spots that meet my high standards, and they are all small, locally owned boutiques! People often ask, “Where do you do most of your shopping?” If I can make a local KC boutique work for a client, I am definitely going to try.

These stores have quickly become my go-to locations also because of the great people who run them! Check out some of these companies to find some pieces to keep your look unique and fun!

Addie Rose Boutique

The first time I stopped in to visit this boutique, I fell in love with not only the merchandise but the vibe as well. The owner, Meagan Doyle, is always cheerful and greets you by name. New merchandise arrives every week, so there are always fresh finds. If you’re looking for fun, on-trend pieces at a great price point, this place is for you! Follow @addieroseboutique on Instagram for new arrivals.

Scoobie

Scoobie is a fashion forward, ’70s-inspired brand owned by Sarah Jabbour. She knows the KC market and knows what they want. By hand selecting all of her merchandise throughout the year, she provides fun, unique pieces that will be sure to catch your eye and not sting your wallet. You can find the adorable and hip stylings of this brand at Trendz, the KC Garment District or online! Follow @shopscoobie for outfit ideas and pieces you probably need!

Tulip

Located on the amazing Country Club Plaza, Tulip offers a stylish and more sophisticated selection of clothing and accessories. If you’re searching for one-of-a-kind pieces that can be casual and polished, this gem is for you. They even carry one of my favorite feminine lines, Cupcakes and Cashmere. From casual to evening wear, Robin Luther’s Tulip is a one-stop shop. The next time you’re on the Country Club Plaza, pop in and check it out!

The store is stunning from the fixtures to the merchandise. Shop luxurious fabrics and unique designs with a heavy modern minimalist theme. Anaphora is sophistication at its finest.
