2018 Saratoga Showcase of Homes: The Best of New Home Design
It’s once again time to experience the beauty and creativity of the Saratoga Showcase of Homes. The 2018 tour includes 14 new homes, and the annual tradition will run over three lovely fall weekends on September 15 and 16, 22 and 23, 29 and 30.
The 2018 Saratoga Showcase of Homes Committee ensures a spectacular line-up of our region’s finest builders for this premier new home tour event. Award-winning builders committed to this year’s event are: Bella Home Builders, Belmonte Builders, Blitman Development, Bonacio Construction, Caruso Home Builders, EMK Construction, Heritage Custom Builders, Kodiak Construction, La Femme Home Builders, Malta Development, The Earth Source Company, The Form Collaborative and Witt Construction.
Over the past 22 years, this community event has contributed more than $1 million to two local charities. Proceeds from the Showcase of Homes benefit Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, with the mission of repairing homes, revitalizing communities and rebuilding lives, and Habitat for Humanity of Northern Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties, a volunteer-based non-profit that creates affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families. A total of $75,000 was donated last year.
The Saratoga Builders Association, Inc., or SBA, is a specialized professional trade association representing an industry basic to the well-being and economy of the people of Saratoga County. Its membership includes residential and commercial builders, developers, remodelers, building material suppliers, subcontractors, financial institutions, architects, engineers, Realtors, attorneys and other industry professionals. SBA is committed to the continued growth, prosperity and quality of life in Saratoga County.
The 2018 Showcase professional judge panel tours and evaluates all the homes a few days prior to the opening of the new home tour to the public. The judging categories are: Landscaping, Workmanship, Best Master Bath, Best Kitchen, Exterior Design, Interior Floor Plan and Interior Decorating. The winners will be announced at a special awards celebration and presentation held prior to the opening of the new home tour. Be sure to look for the trophies on display at the winning builders’ houses.
AnnBritt Newey, American Society of Interior Designers, founder and principal designer at ABN Design, is one of the judges. “So much work and planning has gone into every property on the tour,” she noted. “With such a talented pool of builders, architects and designers, each showcase property is bound to wow! I cannot wait to see the finished results! I really appreciate when there is a strong dialogue among all the design elements—the architecture, interior design and the landscape design. I will be looking for a unique yet cohesive look and feel throughout the home, creative and effective use of space and finishes, and for the refined details that really elevate and pull the home design all together.”
Colleen Coleman, principal of CMC Design Studio, is judging for the first time this year and commented, “I was honored to be chosen as a judge for this year’s submissions. I am looking forward to seeing what the builders and designers have done outside the box. As a host and/or visitor in years past, I have always loved to seek out the individuality of the homes that truly make them special for a potential buyer or homeowner. It should be an exciting year for all entries.”
The People’s Choice Awards are selected by visitors to the homes over the three weekends of the Showcase with the ballot form on the ticket. These ballots are dropped into ballot boxes found at every home on the tour and are the perfect opportunity to show appreciation for each home’s special
