Natalie and Christian Manes

By  0 Comments

Tied the Knot: July 12, 2019

Natalie Manes, 24, was a student at Ripon Christian from kindergarten to 12th grade, then attended California Baptist University in Riverside, earning a liberal studies degree while being involved in the music program. She teaches fifth grade as well as piano lessons from their home. She and Christian live in Modesto and look forward to welcoming their first puppy soon.

Christian Manes, 25, also went to Ripon Christian from kindergarten to 12th grade. After RC, he attended Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, and studied science education. He teaches sixth and seventh grade science at Ripon Christian and coaches soccer and golf. He and Natalie both love music, with guitar as his area of specialty.

Christian and Natalie met in kindergarten at Ripon Christian Elementary; he had his eye on Natalie since about junior year of high school, but Natalie just wanted to be friends. They went to colleges in different states, but kept in touch as Christian always made an effort to take Natalie to lunch or coffee or gather friends to go golfing when they were home. After college, they were both camp counselors and involved in music at church that summer, and they decided to date. They haven’t been apart since.

Golf played a part of Christian’s proposal to Natalie at Spring Creek Golf & Country Club in Ripon after a family dinner. “Christian asked me to ride along in the golf cart while he played a couple holes,” she remembers. “Spring Creek is a very special place to Christian and his family, as his grandfather was the first pro golfer there. Christian loves to golf and remembers his dear Papa, who passed away in 2014, and all the things he taught him. The family has a favorite oak tree on the course, and as we drove up to that tree, Christian asked to stop there, where his brother and my friend had set up a picture board including pictures from high school that said ‘Marry Me?’ along with flowers, lights and his Papa’s golf clubs. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!”

The blissful couple tied the knot July 12, 2019, attended by eight bridesmaids and eight groomsmen, Natalie and Christian’s four siblings, cousins, and childhood and college friends. “We were fortunate to have family and friends come from near and far, even my brother currently serving in the Navy overseas,” she describes.

“We loved getting married in our church and planning a special ceremony with music. Pageo Lavender Farm was the perfect space for a fun reception. It’s one of the most special and unforgettable feelings to have more than 250 friends and family surrounding you with prayers and support and cheering you on for the start of the best journey,” she continues. “It truly was a day of celebrating God’s faithfulness in our story and we are thankful for all who shared in our joy.

Natalie and Christian honeymooned on Maui, a location where they could relax on the beach and do some exploring.
