Fiona and Cody Waller

Tied the Knot: October 11, 2020

Fiona Waller, 25, is a first-grade teacher for the Manteca Unified School District. She attended California State University East Bay and followed the fast track program, graduating with a bachelor’s in liberal studies and a K-8 teaching credential in four years instead of five. “Cody and I live in our new development house in Manteca that we built and customized together while engaged with our German shorthair pointer named Baro. I love to travel and explore new places with my husband and hope to visit all 50 states; so far we are at 12.”

Cody Waller, 28, is a Purple Heart veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He attended Las Positas College and received an AS in welding; he’s currently finishing up his apprenticeship with Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 442 in Modesto. Cody loves anything outdoors, hunting and spending time with his family.

Stories abound of couples who meet during a family member or friend’s wedding. That’s true with Fiona and Cody, who were paired as a bridesmaid and a groomsman at a wedding. On their seven-year anniversary of dating, Cody asked her to marry him and they chose her beautiful ring together.

The blissful couple tied the knot October 11, 2020, attended by Maid of Honor Brittney; Matron of Honor Andrea and two bridesmaids, Kristin and Heather; Best Man Justin and three groomsmen, Lincoln, Brandon and Juan. Niece and nephew Addie and Grayson served as flower girl and ring bearer.

“Since it was a smaller, outdoor wedding, we were able to keep our original wedding date without having to change too much given the current situation,” Fiona describes. “The venue is a family-owned ranch that offered unique details not seen at other venues and had every bit of the rustic/country vibe we were looking for. The ranch had the most beautiful outdoor scenery for pictures and had cabins right on the property that we, our families and close friends stayed in the night of the wedding.

“Our favorite part of the day was our ceremony when we finally became husband and wife and were married by my uncle. With how crazy a year 2020 had been, we were just happy we made it to the wedding and were able to start a new chapter in our life together.”

Fiona and Cody had originally planned to honeymoon in Maui but pushed the trip back due to COVID restrictions. Instead, Fiona’s cousin gifted the couple his house in South Carolina to make sure they still went on a honeymoon and for them to explore surrounding areas of Savannah, Myrtle Beach and Charleston.
