Erika and Tyler Burton

Tied the Knot: February 22, 2020

“Play ball!” the umpire said, and Erika and Tyler Burton did just that, after being introduced at an Oakland Athletics game by Erika’s cousin, Alex.

Erika, born and raised in Modesto, California, has a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in public administration, works as a social worker for Tuolumne County Department of Social Services. She attended her first Major League Baseball game at the age of five weeks, and she has been a season ticket holder for the Oakland Athletics for most of her life.

Tyler, born and raised in Concord, California, is a Realtor with Keller Williams East Bay. He dabbles in graphic art design and creating custom woodwork projects as well. He’s also a long-time A’s fan and season ticket holder who proudly collects Rawlings MLB commemorative logo baseballs, presently owning over 380 unique ones.

Tyler’s proposal came as a surprise to Erika. “We went on a week-long trip to Denver, Colorado, and the whole time I was anticipating that he would propose, but he never did,” she laughs. “The we got home, I went to the bathroom to get ready for bed, and when I opened the door to my bedroom, he was there, on one knee, waiting to propose to me. It was perfectly intimate.”

The blissful couple tied the knot February 22, 2020. Erika’s Maid of Honor was her cousin, Jessica; bridesmaids were her friends Alicia, Alex, Ariell and Nicole. Tyler’s Best Man was his uncle, Pat; serving as groomsmen were Tyler’s brothers, JB and Cole, and friends Alex and Kevin. Ariell’s daughters, Aria and Jocelyn, were the flower girls.

“There were so many wonderful things about our day, but one of our favorites was our first look in the almond orchard,” Erika remembers. “The blossoms were perfectly in bloom and the weather was just right. We couldn’t have asked for more ideal conditions.

“We will also easily remember our wedding date, 02/22/20. We chose it specifically because it’s a palindrome, and we’re pretty nerdy about numbers.”

Erika and Tyler spent a honeymoon week at Disneyland and California Adventure, and they hope to go to Europe for their first anniversary.
