Erika and Justin Cooperman

Tied the Knot: August 25, 2018

Erika Cooperman, 34, grew up in Lodi, California, graduated from UC San Diego and completed her nursing education at New York University. She currently works as a hematology and bone marrow transplant nurse in San Francisco.

Justin Cooperman, 30, graduated from Dartmouth College with a computer science degree. When he’s not geeking out around Silicon Valley, he enjoys football and cooking. Justin and Erika reside in San Francisco.

Justin and Erika met après ski during a vacation in Lake Tahoe. Since both lived in San Francisco, they later rendezvoused in the city. “He promised to take me out for ‘the best cocktails in the city,’” Erika laughs. “I didn’t know his dating lines, and arrived at the restaurant to find that the fine establishment only served beer and wine. Nevertheless, our chemistry was undeniable and after this first date fail, we quickly fell for each other!”

Justin travels to Portland often for work, and Erika frequently accompanied him on weekends. “I wasn’t expecting a proposal that weekend at the Rose Garden,” she smiles. “I was wearing a trucker hat, ripped jeans and a camo shirt when the proposal went down. After about two hours of wandering through the grounds, Justin finally built up the courage to propose. It definitely took a minute for the proposal to sink in!” After celebrating in downtown Portland, Erika and Justin flew back to San Francisco, where he had arranged for a limo to pick them up and take them to every meaningful spot they shared together in the city for photos for their future scrapbook.

The blissful couple tied the knot August 25, 2018. Attending Erika as co-Maids of Honor were Katie Ballard and Jennifer Leonard-Markley; bridesmaids were Lindsay Dagan, Jenna Warden, Carrie Wood and Angela Rose. Dylan Chin and Oliver Gross were, respectively, the adorable flower girl and ring bearer. Jeff Cooperman served as Best Man; groomsmen were Bill Aldinger IV, Kirk Andrews, Rob Craighead, Mitch McIntyre and Rick Zeitlin.

“We have so many special memories of Lodi, from boating on the Delta to holiday gatherings so we chose to get married there,” Erika reveals. “It was also a wonderful opportunity for our guests to enjoy this charming wine country.

“It was really important that our wedding reflected us. Our guests knew us both very well individually, but we wanted family and friends to walk away knowing much more about us as a couple. We love live music and the outdoors, and our venue accommodated both. We also incorporated tons of personal elements so that the wedding really showcased each of our unique personalities. Plus, since it was August, we had a frozé machine!”

Erika and Justin honeymooned in Spain, Italy and Dubai; September is one of the most beautiful months to travel worldwide, and they enjoyed a special once-in-a-lifetime trip.
