Bailey and Travis Vander Molen

By  0 Comments

Tied the Knot: June 6, 2020

Bailey (Silveira) Vander Molen, 21, a graduate of Grand Canyon University, teaches second grade in Phoenix, where she and Travis now live.

Travis Vander Molen, 22, is a graduate of Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, where he played for the varsity baseball team. He works as a physical therapist technician in Phoenix and hopes to attend physical therapy school.

“We met before we could remember,” Bailey smiles. “We grew up together in the church we attended since we were born. We attended kindergarten through high school together and crushed on each other in middle school, but we didn’t start dating until our senior year.”

Travis enlisted help for his proposal. While he and Bailey went to dinner one Sunday night, his mom and sister set up his plan. “When we arrived home, he said there was something in the mailbox for me and he would be waiting at the end of the driveway. In the mailbox was a letter with instructions. Along the fence posts were ten picture frames with pictures of us and a letter. The letters included ten promises he was making to fulfill as my husband. At the final one, he said some more sweet words then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! His mom and sister photographed the whole thing. Soon after I said yes, our families surprised us with a little party to celebrate.”

The blissful couple tied the knot June 6, 2020. Bailey’s Maid of Honor was her sister, Bethany, and Matron of Honor was her older sister, Aarica. Bridesmaids were Mikaela, Kacey, Renee, Alyssa and Cynthia. Serving Travis as Best Man was his brother, Jadon. Groomsmen were Andrew, Isaiah, Nolan, Daniel and Adam.

“Our wedding day was special not in spite of the circumstance but because of it,” Bailey affirms. “Our venue changed five times before our wedding as everything was closing due to COVID. There was a lot of stress and difficulty that came with planning a wedding during a global pandemic. We were fortunate to have friends that offered their beautiful property to us two weeks before the wedding, so we ran around like crazy to work out the details.

“What was so special was how so many friends, family and people from the community came together to help us put it together. Because we had the private venue, we were able to have all the special people that were important to us. We felt so loved and blessed that they chose to celebrate with us, despite what was going on in the world. We took the necessary precautions and were able to have the most beautiful wedding day. Everyone was so happy to be out and enjoy a wedding celebration. At the time we had no idea what would happen, but looking back we see it was God’s plan all along and it worked out just as He intended it.”

The couple honeymooned locally in South Lake Tahoe, hiking, canoeing and spending time at the beach.
