Oak Farm Vineyards, New Barrel Room Special Event Venue: Created with Loving Detail

By  0 Comments

The waters of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships can be tough to navigate. The creative duo at Oak Farm Vineyards, Dorothy Panella and Heather Panella, have a special relationship that sails freely, and they complement one another’s talents beautifully. From the architectural design of the tasting room to the stunning landscape that surrounds the estate and the quaint vacation rental, Annadan Suites, no detail is left overlooked and the creative genius between these two women is reflected throughout the property. With the continued growth and popularity of the wines produced by Oak Farm Vineyards, the need for a larger-capacity barrel room and warehouse led to an empty space adjacent to the tasting room and patio.

“Don’t threaten me with a good time,” laughed Dorothy as she shared how quickly she and Heather joined forces to transform the previous barrel room space into an additional venue for special events. “There was some back and forth on whether or not the space might be needed for additional wine storage, but ultimately we knew we wanted to evolve the space into another option for special events,” shared Heather. “Dorothy has an impeccable eye for design and hand-picked pieces to work in the space and complement the architectural design.”

The room can accommodate 130 to 140 people, depending on the use of a dance floor. Because the room previously housed barrels of Oak Farm’s handcrafted wines, the space is climate controlled for hot summer nights and colder winter evenings. Oversized double-doors open to the patio and boast a balance between natural wood elements and a beautiful glass detail that lets natural light spill into the space. Mirroring the exposed wood vertical siding of the tasting room, the barrel room walls extend to the open ceiling, where light fixtures hang the length of the room. A mixture of masculine and feminine design elements works together to create a breathtaking event space.

Three large vintage mirrors hang on the wall and bring a softness with the ornate detailing in the wood frames. Sourced from Water Street Antiques & Interiors, the mirrors are framed in a European-style gingerbread and aged to perfection with the original wood coming through the white-washed finish. The custom bar was also sourced from Water Street Antiques & Interiors and was repurposed from a sideboard.

Dorothy and Heather have worked tirelessly on every detail of the new event space, handpicked, hand-harvested and hand-sorted as are the wines produced by Oak Farm Vineyards. “We are so excited to offer the space as another option for special events. From our Circle OF Friends wine club dinners to private parties, the Barrel Room provides a beautiful and intimate space for special events,” Heather said smiling.
